High Key or Low Key??

It's been ages since I posted something here.Nothing really worthwhile happening.
This week I had a go at some minimilist shots(is that an actual word???).
Anyway, I decided to head to Pilmore and then over to Knockadoon.
I don't really know if there is a "technique" for this kinda stuff, so it was a little bit of trial and error.
Basically what I did was over exposed most of these shots by 2-3 stops, whilst trying to retain the detail in the darker parts.

So have a look ,and by all means let me know if you think they are rubbish,or maybe I'm on the right track.....................

British Pathe Film Archive

I came across this wonderful website recently, It's the British Pathe film archive.
There are some great clips from East Cork, as well as all over the world.
Here's a link to a clip from Midleton,Co.Cork....

REPRISALS BY ORDER

7 houses are destroyed by military authorities for failing to report an ambush which killed 3 policemen.

And here's a clip from Roches Point Lighthouse from the day the 21,170 ton Atlantic liner "Celtic" runs aground on dreaded Cow & Calf rocks off Roches Point.......

FAST ON THE ROCKS

It's an intriguing site and one full of many many nuggets of historical footage,
Maybe you can find one from your location.

Venice

I paid my first visit to Venice recently,
After a bit of a round trip with Ryanair, which had us landing in Trieste rather then Treviso,we still managed to arrive unscathed. To be fair to the airline, there was a really thick fog over Treviso,so It wasn't there fault.
We stayed in the Palazzo Paruta Hotel in Venice, which is about a 3/4 min walk from The Accademia Bridge.

You don't need me to tell you anything about Venice. The history books as well as countless guide books provide much more information then I could ever impart here.Suffice it to say It live up to all my expectations and then some.
I will just say this ,Venice is a traffic free city, and as such ,be prepared to walk and walk and then walk some more. But it won't be like any walk you've done before.
Venice is not just a visual feast, every where you look, listen, and smell will arouse your senses.
As I said before walking around Venice is the way to go,but if the legs are feeling a little tired, then just find a little cafe, or indeed just sit along the banks of the grand canal and people watch.Listen to the different accents and languages. It's fascinating to watch the day to day activities of the locals going about there business in an environment that many of us would struggle with.
But above all else, make sure you DO visit Venice.

St Marks Basilica
